MAKE & DYE A MEDITATION CUSHION - 21 FEB
MAKING PROCESS Find peace and calm while crafting your own unique meditation cushion. Step by step, you’ll learn how to sew your cushion behind the sewing machine, including a refillable inner lining that you can fill with organic spelt hulls for the perfect natural support. SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS Your meditation cushion will be made from 100% Khadi cotton, hand-spun and handwoven pure cotton from India. This remarkable fabric became world-renowned thanks to Mahatma Gandhi, who made it a symbol of self-sufficiency, local craftsmanship, and resistance against industrialized textile imports. NATURAL FABRIC DYEING You’ll also dive into the world of natural colors. Together, we’ll go through the dyeing process step by step, using botanical ingredients to bring your cushion to life. You’ll discover which plants yield certain hues and how different mordants and techniques influence the final color. POSITIVE AFFIRMATION According to Masaru Emoto’s theory, water responds to energetic vibrations such as sound, spoken words, or emotion, altering its molecular structure. By writing down a positive affirmation or intention and placing it in the dye bath, we symbolically infuse your creation with that positive energy. The affirmation amplifies the energy and expression of the natural colors, fostering a deeper connection between you, nature, and your finished creation. WHAT'S INCLUDED - Fabrics, haberdashery (ruffles, buttons and zippers) and natural dye ingredients (colours/mordants/modifiers) - Printed sewing and natural dyeing instructions - A homemade vegetarian lunch, coffee/tea and snacks PRACTICAL INFORMATION The workshop is from 10:00 till 16:00 in my atelier in Rotterdam.
