Bring new colours to your wardrobe by (re)dyeing your clothes with botanical dyes!
CREATE & CONNECT
NATURAL DYE KITCHEN Bring along two garments made from 100% natural materials (like cotton, linen, silk, or wool) and give them a second life in an artistic and eco-friendly way. Join Emma in her natural dye kitchen, where you’ll learn how to work with botanical dyes to refresh, transform, or completely reinvent your pieces, turning them into new favorites you'll love to wear. You’ll choose two botanical and I’ll introduce you to a variety of natural dyeing techniques to explore. You are free to experiment with patterns, color combinations, and layers to create your own unique design. WHEN & WHERE Once a month, we gather on a Thursday evening from 18:30 to 21:00 to get creative and a little messy in the dye kitchen! To ensure the best colour results, your clothes need to be properly pretreated. Please send or drop off your clothing at least one week in advance, so everything is ready for you to start dyeing right away. During the session, you'll learn each step of the natural dyeing process while your clothes soak up the rich pigments of botanical dyes. Once you've booked a spot, Emma will share all the practical information you need! There is space for 3 participants per dye session. There is space for 4 creatives in a calm, open and supportive space where there is room to exchange ideas, and slow down. It's recommended to reserve your spot in advance if you’d like to come regularly. The atelier is located in B46, the makers collective in Rotterdam Overschie. There’s free parking available and a bus stop (bus 33) located just across the street. Location: Burgemeester Bosstraat 46, 3043 GD Rotterdam MATERIALS & TOOLS All materials and natural dyes for two garments are included in the price. Since the amount of mordant and botanical dyes needed depends on the weight of your clothing, please weigh your two pieces in advance and select the appropriate option when booking: Lightweight: 100 – 750 grams Heavyweight: 750 – 1500 grams If your garments weigh more than 1500 grams combined, please get in touch with Emma first to confirm whether dyeing them is possible.
