SLOW-FASHION COURSE - 7, 14, 21, 28 MAY

365 euro

4-DAY SLOW-FASHION COURSE Across four sessions on Thursday evening, you’ll fully immerse yourself in the slow-making process — handcrafting your own unique garment from scratch and naturally dyeing it using botanical techniques. Please note: Basic sewing skills are required for this course! THE DESIGN PROCESS (DAY 1 & 2) During the first two evenings, we focus entirely on designing and creating your garment. You may choose from a basic IKIGAIA skirt, kimono, top, or dress design, depending on your skill level and personal wishes. With your own creative input, you’ll be able to personalise the design through subtle adjustments — such as modifying length or width — as long as these changes are achievable within the timeframe and your level of experience. You’ll learn essential garment-making techniques, from working with patterns and shaping your design to sewing and finishing your piece with care. I will guide you step by step through the process so we can bring your unique creation to life together. SUSTAINABLE MATERIALS You can select your preferred fabric from our consciously sourced collection: - Kala/Khadi cotton - Lotus silk - Hemp 1.5 meters of fabric are included in the course fee. Additional fabric, is available at an extra cost per meter, depending on the fabric type. Our handmade recycled glass or brass beads are also included! THE NATURAL DYEING PROCESS (DAY 3 & 4) Once your garment is complete, we shift our focus to colour. Over the final two evenings, I will guide you into the world of botanical dyeing. Together, we’ll explore the natural dyeing process step by step. You’ll learn which plants create specific colours and how mordants and modifiers influence tones and depth. We will also experiment with traditional techniques such as Japanese Shibori, creating organic patterns that make your garment truly one of a kind.
