WORKSHOP SASHIKO STITCHING - 15 MAR 2026

JAPANESE SASHIKO EMBROIDERY Discover the Japanese art of Sashiko & Boro embroidery and learn visible mending to upcycle your clothes in this hands-on creative workshop! During the session, you’ll create two unique mini coasters or one larger A5-sized artwork using traditional Sashiko & Boro stitching techniques. VISIBLE MENDING You’ll also learn how to upcycle an old pair of jeans with visible mending. Using decorative and functional stitches, you’ll repair tears or holes in an artistic and eye-catching way. Combine Japanese craftsmanship, sustainability, and aesthetics while embracing the beauty of imperfection! PRACTICAL INFORMATION The workshop is from 12:00 till 16:00 in my atelier in Rotterdam. Maximum 8 people can attend this workshop so you will have enough space to work on your embroidery. I will provide soms snacks/sweets and coffee/herbal teas but a lunch is not included so please bring your own food. Participants need to bring their own pair of jeans or denim garment for the visible mending part. All other materials are included. No prior experience is necessary, this workshop is perfect for anyone looking to explore or deepen their practice in this Japanese textile art. CANCELATION Cancellation of the workshop is possible and free of charge up to 1 week in advance. If you cancel from 1 week before the workshop, a 50% refund will be made. If you cancel 24 hours in advance, the right to a refund will lapse. This also applies with a no-show. IKIGAIA reserves the right to cancel the workshop up to 6 days before the start of the workshop if there are not enough participants. There is not enough participation if less than 3 paying participants have registered up to 1 week before the workshop.
