NATURAL TEXTILE DYEING In this workshop, you’ll learn the magic process of natural dyeing. From preparing the textiles to create long lasting results and working with tannins and mordants to discovering which plants and natural materials create different colours and shades. SHIBORI — THE JAPANESE ART OF TEXTILE DYEING We’ll also explore Shibori, the traditional Japanese art of creating "resist" patterns on fabric through folding, stitching, twisting and binding. You’ll experiment with techniques such as Mokume, Itajime, Arashi and Kumo, creating unique patterns and discovering how each technique transforms the fabric. By the end of the workshop, you’ll take home a wall hangings in your prefered size, made from 100% organic cotton. Your creation will be completely unique and a little piece of art made by your own hands. PRACTICAL INFORMATION Time: 11:00–16:00 Location: IKIGAIA atelier, Burgemeester Bosstraat 46, Rotterdam Group size: Maximum 6 participants Coffee, herbal tea and small snacks are provided. Lunch is not included, so please bring something to eat if needed. Bring your own waterbottle. No previous experience is needed. Just come with an open mind and a curiosity for colour, nature and making with your hands. CANCELLATION Cancellation is free up to 1 week before the workshop.
